Fortune Poaches New York Post Wall Street Journo

Roddy Boyd, the New York Post’s former Wall Street reporter, has just been hired as Fortune’s newest writer. Boyd will be covering breaking Wall Street news for both and the print magazine.

Today was Boyd’s first day on the job. Here’s the announcement:

NEW YORK, NY – Fortune managing editor Andy Serwer announced today the appointment of Roddy Boyd. Boyd was previously with the New York Post and will start with Fortune as a writer on January 7.

At Fortune, Boyd’s responsibilities will include Wall Street breaking news and analysis, as well as financial enterprise reporting, writing primarily for

Boyd was previously a writer for the New York Post’s business desk, where he was responsible for covering Wall Street, including the large brokerages, the exchanges and hedge funds.

Prior to joining The Post, Boyd worked at The New York Sun and Institutional Investor News. A 1990 graduate of Fordham University, Boyd worked as an analyst and trader for seven years before turning to journalism.
