Fortune is beefing up its tech coverage by adding six former GigaOM staffers. GigaOM—which was founded in 2006—abruptly shuttered in March.
The new additions to the Fortune team include Stacey Higginbotham, Barb Darrow, Katie Fehrenbacher, Mathew Ingram, Jeff John Roberts and Jonathan Vanian.
Higginbotham will focus on the Internet of things; Darrow on cloud computing; Fehrenbacher on energy tech; Ingram on media and the social web; Roberts on tech law; and Vanian on business tech.
“These journalists are leaders in covering an interconnected group of technologies – cloud computing, big data, machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, sensors, social collaboration, energy technology – that are profoundly remaking the foundations of global business,” wrote Fortune editor Alan Murray, in a memo to staffers.
