‘Fort Worth Star-Telegram’ Lays Off Managing Editor & Staffers

It’s another sad day here at MJD. According to JimRomenesko, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram has laid off 12 employees including Lois Norder, their managing editor.

Here’s the excerpt from one of his readers:

“Word on the street is that the Star-Telegram laid off 12 yesterday, including nine in news. Managing editor Lois Norder, a first-rate editor, is among the casualties. Facebook conversations say six news copy editors also gone.”

Well, Romenesko’s confirmed that statement with Kathy Vetter, managing editor for digital. She’ll begin to manage the local news operation except for sports and features. Perhaps this isn’t a total surprise since the newspaper announced two months ago that it was planning to focus on digital media instead of print.
