Sure, we’ve all seen Facebook postings from friends seeking roommates, typically via links to ads on Craigslist. But it’s an entirely different matter when for a nationally-known politician to list a home for sale on the social network.

On the other hand, the tactic certainly behooves someone whose first words responding to the “about” field on his page describes him as chairman of the subcommittee on domestic monetary policy (another Paul page on Facebook says he aspires to be U.S. Treasury Secretary in 2012).

The congressman’s Facebook page links to a website devoted to the home sale, aptly called BuyRonPaulsHouse.com.Paul explains in a post on his wall:

Carol and I are selling the house we lived in for over 40 years. If you or someone you know is moving to the Houston/Galveston/Lake Jackson area, they can get more information through this website.

Paul’s four bedroom, five-bathroom home including an office and swimming pool has a mere $325,000 asking price. The lawmaker’s spokesman Jesse Benton explained to USA Today that the Republican congressman and his wife have recently had a new home built.

Readers, do you think it’s clever or tacky for a politician to advertise the sale of his home on Facebook?
