First-Ever People Magazine Awards to Air Tonight on NBC

people-magazine-awardsIn case you thought there were far too few awards shows on TV for the celeb-obsessed, People is debuting a new one. The People Magazine Awards, hosted by Nick Cannon, will celebrate the year in pop culture and feature appearances from stars like Jennifer Aniston, Jeff Bridges and Jennifer Lopez. The two-hour event airs tonight on NBC at 9 p.m. ET.

“We are excited to launch our inaugural awards this year on the heels of People’s 40th birthday celebration,” Jess Cagle, editorial director of People and Entertainment Weekly, told FishbowlNY.

Viewers can also expect musical performances from 5 Seconds of Summer and Voice coaches Gwen Stefani (who will debut her new single, “Spark the Fire”), Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine (as part of Maroon 5).
