Film Shot with iPhone Wins Oscar, Apple Debuts iPad Ad

Last night was the first time that a film shot using an iPhone won an Oscar. Searching for Sugarman, the documentary about the bizarre fate of Detroit singer-songwriter Rodriguez, won the best documentary Oscar at Sunday’s ceremony. The film was partially shot with the iPhone Super 8 app.

So it was an appropriate event for Apple to show off the latest commercial for the iPad. The ad, which we have embedded above, highlights the device’s tools for both creating and viewing movies.
