Fern Mallis Frames Elevate Magazine’s Sophomore Issue

Your first look at the Summer/Fall Issue cover.

In early June, Fern Mallis sat down with Victoria Beckham at the 92nd Street Y for her popular “Fashion Icons” conversation series. This month, the New York Fashion Week founder is revisiting that interview in the form of an Elevate magazine story, for which she curated “extended highlights” and penned a new introduction.

Mallis is also mentioned at the top of Peter Davis’ “No Room at the Inn,” an article about New York’s burgeoning boutique hotel social scene that immediately follows the Beckham cover story. And tonight, she will be fêted at the Standard Hotel in the East Village by editor in chief Richard Pérez-Feria at an invitation-only private dinner.

On the front of the nine-by-twelve-inch Issue #2, there is no newsstand price listed. That’s because the magazine is distributed primarily through the offices of Douglas Elliman Development Marketing, with half the pages taken up by ads for upscale real estate listings.

The cover image, revealed exclusively here, was taken by famed photographer David X. Prutting. The third issue of Elevate will be unveiled at Art Basel Miami, where the publication was launched last December.

P.S. The inside-the-book headline for the Summer/Fall Issue cover story is a little cheekier than what’s on the cover. It reads: “Mend It Like Beckham.”
