FBNY @ SXSW: Onion Writers Snubbed In Austin?

For 10 years, the Onion — our favorite area satirical newspaper — has sent its writers to South By Southwest as members of the media (their A.V. Club, for instance, filed a showcase-by-showcase account of last year’s blowout).

The festival and longtime sponsor, the Austin Chronicle (whose founders Nick Barbaro and Louis Black co-founded SXSW) have always welcomed the Onion alongside traditional media members with bona-fide press passes.
