Fast Follow: Follow Twitter Users Without Twitter (with SMS)
Twitter introduced a way to follow Twitter users without actually using Twitter: Fast Follow, which allows mobile-phone users to sign up to follow specific Twitter accounts by texting “follow” and the account name to 40404, after which they will receive Tweets from those accounts via SMS.
Fast Follow is currently available only in the United States, and it is only a one-way service — interacting with Twitter accounts will require users to establish their own.
Twitter also announced that hovering over a user’s name or avatar on Twitter.com
