Fast Company and The New Yorker Staffs Unionize

Majority of employees join in efforts

Staffs with two more publications decided to unionize, joining a host of other employees at publications who have opted to do the same in recent months.

At The New Yorker, almost 90 percent of the editorial staff decided to unionize with the NewsGuild of New York. And at Fast Company, an “overwhelming majority” of the 40-member editorial, social and photo staff voted to unionize with the Writers Guild of America, East.

The editorial staff at the Condé Nast title asked for voluntary recognition Wednesday in a letter to New Yorker editor David Remnick.
