Social media may be revolutionizing communication for a new generation of Internet users, but studies show that when it comes to widespread adoption, some parents and employers are still dragging their feet. This infographic shows statistics on how much time workers waste on Facebook and how teens put themselves at risk, giving authority figures more reason to ban the site from their office or home.

Not that many of them do — although 75 percent of workers say they check Facebook once a day or more, only 27 percent of employers say that they monitor their employees’ social media use, and only 45 percent have an official policy.
