Facebook will guide the shopping decisions of 86.64 million people hitting stores on Black Friday shoppers this year.

Research firm iProspect started with the National Retail Federation’s estimate of 152 million shoppers likely to visit physical stores on the day after Thanksgiving, and from there found:

  • 57 percent of shoppers in the United States turn to Facebook or Twitter to stay informed on holiday sales and promotions.
  • 67 percent of consumers did research online prior to their purchases during the 2010 holiday season.
