Facebook launched related articles in December 2013, appearing after users read stories from their News Feeds

Facebook launched its related articles feature in December 2013, serving up articles on the same topic after users read articles that appeared in their News Feeds. And now the social network is testing related articles that appear before users click on stories in their News Feeds.

Product manager for News Feed Sara Su announced the test in a Newsroom post, saying that the content being served includes articles by third-party fact-checkers. She wrote:

Today, we’re beginning to test related articles that might appear before you read an article shared in News Feed.
