Facebook Pages Can Now Create Paid Online Events

The social network will not collect any fees for at least the next year

With in-person events still largely on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, Facebook is providing a way for people to create paid online events via its platform.

Vice president and head of the Facebook application Fidji Simo said in a Newsroom post that page administrators of pages for businesses, creators, educators and media publishers can now create online events, set prices for “attending,” promote those events, collect payments and host the events.

The new option is available to pages in these 20 countries that meet the social network’s partner monetization policies.

Simo said Facebook will not collect any fees from paid online events for at least the next year in order to support small and midsized businesses and creators.
