What should brands on Facebook expect when the social network transitions all advertisers to version 2.4 of its marketing application-programming interface Wednesday?

David Zelniker, product manager for Kenshoo, a Facebook Marketing Partner, sees transparency, simplicity and opportunities for advertisers large and small.

Zelniker said in an email to SocialTimes that marketing API v2.4 will make the bidding and optimization process for Facebook ads more simple than ever, allowing advertisers to mirror their campaign goals in the “optimize for” field, such as mobile application installs, and choose what to “pay for,” such as impressions.

For less advanced advertisers on the social network, Zelniker feels that the updated API will “spell out in plain language precisely what actions an advertiser pays for,” and for those with extensive experience marketing on Facebook, he suggests evaluating different optimize for/pay for combinations to fine-tune their campaigns.
