The parent is borrowing from the child, as Facebook is testing Favorites, its version of Instagram’s Close Friends feature.

Developer and blogger Jane Manchun Wong discovered the feature last week and shared screenshots via Twitter.

According to the images shared by Wong, discovered within the code for Facebook’s Android application, when users with the feature opt to share a Facebook Story or camera post via Messenger, they can choose to do so via chat with everyone listed in their Favorites, and that list can be edited by adding up to 10 people by hand, or via suggestions from an algorithm.

Facebook had not responded to a request for comment at the time of this post, but a spokesperson confirmed to Josh Constine of TechCrunch that Favorites is a prototype created by the Messenger team, and that it isn’t officially being tested among employees or users.
