Facebook is Not Using Your Photos for Ads

Today, I found out that the warning is not true, it's just a rumor, so don't believe it. If you read the fine print on lines 7B and 7C of Facebook's advertising guidelines, you will read that advertisers cannot use user data (including photos) in their ads without prior consent either from Facebook or the user.

Most Facebook users might be familiar with a certain status update that is being circulated around saying that Facebook is going to use photos of you, your family and friends in advertisements. The reason for using the photos is to fool people into believing their friends endorsed a product or service.

Here is a typical warning that you might have seen:

“Facebook will start putting your photos in ads on the profile page of your contacts.
