Facebook Has $80 Billion Value In Latest Auction

This week's auction of Facebook stock on SharesPost has resulted in the third-highest closing price for Facebook shares, giving the company an implied value of $80 billion.

The latest private-market transaction in Facebook holdings on SharesPost priced 100,000 shares at $32.00 apiece, which gives the company a total impled value of $80 billion.

This auction resulted in the third-highest closing price for Facebook shares. The record high of $34 per share in January, also occurred SharesPost, as did the second-greatest trade, $33 in March.

Some might consider the last few auctions as signs that the shares have cooled off from greater volatility at the beginning of the year, when they rallied in reaction to the Goldman Sachs-led investment in Facebook at an implied valuation of $50 billion early January. But even the cooling off rate, compared to the overall value, still shows a lot more movement than what one might see in the stock of a publicly-held company.

Below you’ll see a copy of the email we received from SharesPost. Please let us know in the comments section what you think of the latest valuation of the company.
