Facebook Extends Its Blood Donations Feature to More Countries

Shortages are occurring due to Covid-19 stay-at-home orders

Facebook extended its Blood Donations feature to several countries to help solve the problem of blood shortages caused by shelter-in-place orders due to Covid-19.

The social network said in a Newsroom post that the feature lets people know where there are shortages and where it is safe to donate.

Blood Donations is now available in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Kenya, Senegal and South Africa, joining markets where it had already been rolled out: Bangladesh, Brazil, India, Pakistan and the U.S.

Facebook also entered into a partnership with AABB in the U.S.
