For years, monitoring the activity and statements of key stakeholders was just one of the jobs of communications and political staff on Capitol Hill.

With the advent of Facebook and other social media tools, that job has become both easier and somewhat more complicated given the volume of media to monitor: TV, traditional print and digital media.

To help Republican staffers leverage social media channels, New Media Caucus Vice Chair Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers launched GOP Labs earlier this year, a series of social media immersion seminars that invite experts from various social media platforms, including Facebook.
