Facebook announces winners of PMD Innovation Competition; Ampush leads

PMD-badgesFacebook today announced the winners of its Preferred Marketing Developer Innovation Competition, which included Ampush taking the grand jury prize and six other companies being recognized for their projects.

The competition was themed “The Era of News Feed,” and PMDs were tasked with creating a marketing product that effectively leverages the feed as a paid media placement. Ampush won for its Project YOGA, standing for Your Open Graph Applications. The tool’s analytics and ads integration helps marketers amplify Open Graph stories through News Feed.

KRDS, Moontoast, Optimal, SocialCode, SocialFlow and Unified were also announced as winners, among more than 50 PMDs who participated.

KRDS, a Facebook marketing agency in Europe and Asia, built Feedizr to give marketers a way to automatically create personalized ads using their content and have them updated continuously. The tool matches keywords from content on a website or Facebook app with targeting options made available by the Facebook ads platform. The tool also uses Facebook’s Custom Audience feature for more advanced targeting.

Boston and Nashville-based Moontoast won for its Social Advertising Platform that allows businesses to easily create, amplify and measure their page post ads in the feed.

Optimal, which has offices in the Bay Area and New York, developed the Optimal News Feed Promoter to integrate multiple data sources and automate News Feed promotions. The tool identifies a brand’s best performing content based on customizable rules and can dynamically target fans based on their engagement with the page.

SocialCode, operating primarily out of New York and Washington, D.C., built Message Optics Live, an analytics tool to help marketers make decisions about which posts they should promote in the feed based on organic performance and target KPIs. Marketers can also get other insights about their content strategy.

New York and San Francisco-based SocialFlow improved upon its platform to help determine the best posts for paid promotion and optimize targeting.

Unified, also working out of New York and San Francisco, expanded its Minilytics application to support News Feed optimization and new paid media opportunities.
