Facebook’s Community Help hub that enables its community to request or offer help in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic is getting some artificial intelligence-powered help.
The social network said last week that it is using AI to detect public posts on News Feed that mention needing or offering assistance and surfacing suggestions to the authors of those posts to share them via Community Help with the goal of reaching more people.
Facebook added that one-half of the posts in its Community Help hub have arrived via this manner.
Should the post author decide to share the post in Community Hub, AI is then being used to recommend matches between people offering or seeking help and to provide notifications with updates on new matches.
