EyeTV Mobile Lets You Watch & Record Over-the-air TV Shows on an iPad 2

You can already watch TV programs on an iPad 2 using Netflix or Hulu in the form of streaming video. But, what if you wanted to watch live over-the-air TV while at a picnic or during a widespread power outage? Elgato announced a solution to fit that need this week.

Elgato Unveils EyeTV Mobile, World’s First DTT/Freeview Tuner for the iPad 2’s Dock Connector

The EyeTV Mobile attaches to an iPad 2’s 30-pin connector (it apparently does not work with the first generation iPad). As you can see in the photo, the device includes a telescoping antenna. The free EyeTV Mobile app lets you watch and even record TV programming.

The device will be available in late September and has an announced European price of 99.95 Euros. This is $143.68 in U.S. dollars at the current conversion rate.
