Ex-FNC and AP Scribe Thinks Journos Deserve to Eat Lusty Food

Holly Hickman, a former Fox News Radio and AP reporter, wants reporters to eat well when traveling for work. A newcomer to D.C. from the “fanny parade” * of South Beach, she says the heavy travel demands of her last job have inspired her to create HealthyEatsHere.com. It’s an online guide to restaurants nationwide that serve organic/grass-fed meats and local produce. Reporters forced to eat quick junk-filled meals on the road could find it useful.  The site calls the cuisine “beautiful, clean, luscious, lusty food.”

“I think it’s something other roving reporters would find useful, as opting for these restaurants (as opposed to ordering late-night pizza) helped me control my weight and stay healthy and focused while on the road,” Hickman wrote to FishbowlDC.

* Hickman explains South Beach’s “fanny parade”: “Gotta see it to believe it,” she says. “Far too many thongs and butt implants sashaying down Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive.  I certainly don’t see that on the Mall.”

The Fine Print: The site is not free. The initial charge is $29.95.  Charges are $29.95/year until you cancel. You may cancel at any time.

Find out where to find organic poultry after the jump…

Check out the healthy eats here. Holly’s “current fave” in D.C. is Poste, where “microgreens grow in pots all around the restaurant” and diners can eat sustainable fish. In Fort Meyers, Fla. she points readers to Pizza Fusion, which uses organic tomato sauces. And in Vegas (which could have helped reporters covering the Sen. Harry Reid race against Sharron Angle) she suggests Bradley Ogden in Caesar ‘s Palace, which boasts organic poultry.
