Eugene Scott Is Joining WaPo’s The Fix to Cover the Politics of Identity

He joins from CNN Politics Digital

While CNN Politics Digital has been known in recent years for grabbing up staff from other publications for its growing op, this time around it is The Washington Post snagging one from CNN. On Sept. 5, Eugene Scott joins The Fix to report on the politics of identity.

“Eugene brings deep expertise and a creative approach to this important subject, as well as a range of skills that will accelerate The Fix’s evolution into a rich, engaging multi-media blog,” wrote national editor Scott Wilson, senior politics editor Steven Ginsberg and Fix editor Natalie Jennings in an announcement.

Identity politics has already been one of Scott’s beats at CNN Politics Digital, in addition to Washington and national politics. While at CNN, he had also covered the 2016 elections. Prior to joining CNN Politics Digital in 2015, Scott had been a researcher at Time, and had spent the nine years before that as a reporter at The Arizona Republic.

Scott also has the distinction of being a Washington native in a town notorious for its transience.
