ESPN, MLBAM Team Up on ESPN3.com

ESPN3Logo.jpgPlay ball: Major League Baseball Advanced Media will use its technology infrastructure and operations support to power streaming of more than 3,500 live sporting events when ESPN360.com becomes ESPN3.com April 4.

MLBAM will incorporate Adobe’s Flash Media Server as ESPN3’s core technology, and the broadband channel’s new features will include customizable widgets with scores, chats, and schedules, as well as more HD streaming of live events, picture-in-picture, and split screens.

ESPN Digital Media senior vice president and general manager John Kosner said:

ESPN360.com carries a wide variety of more than 3,500 live sporting events online, and continually improving that experience is our top priority. This new agreement with MLBAM, which deepens our seven-year relationship, brings two leaders in sports-video streaming together on the same platform. We will continue to deliver a high-quality network to fans as it transitions to ESPN3.com in April.
