Edith Chapin Named Executive Editor of NPR

"Acting" executive editor no more.

NPR has made it official. Edith Chapin, who had been acting executive editor of NPR since Madhulika Sikka left for Mic this spring, is executive editor as of today.

Prior to stepping up as acting executive editor in June, Chapin was the senior supervising editor of the international desk, a role she had held since coming to NPR from CNN in 2012.

In the set up to the announcement, svp of news and editorial director Michael Oreskes wrote to staff that “it is important that we all think about NPR as a multiplatform organization at all times,” before calling Chapin “exactly such a leader” for that job.
