Don’t. Do. This.

Ask A Manager posted this “cover letter” today, categorized under “things that make your heart break.”

Yeah. This goes beyond funny/schadenfreude to just sad.

A commenter pointed out that, well, at least this letter stands out from the herd! ….”like an injured zebra.”

Depressed now? Here are some hilariously bad cover letters to cheer you up:

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was
the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the
spring of hope, the winter of despair, we had everything
before us…”. This quote from Charles Dickens captures
the essence of the business world today. We are
presented with opportunities for growth and a lot of
decisions need to be made which will affect all of our
futures. To deal with these choices, help is often needed.
This is why I would like to work for your company. (via)

As Ivory goes along with a substance called soap
Everyone looked at each other with a small gleam of hope
“It’s time to stop letting all the normal folk dance
And open our eyes, and give this chick a chance!” (via)

Interesting Side Fact: One AAM commenter got just 3 cover letters along with 10 job applications. Another got 75 applications for one job where only a “small handful” had tailored their letter for the job. So a little effort really goes a long way.
