Discovery Communications Is Readying 3 Shows for Facebook’s Watch

Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery and TLC are getting involved

Discovery Communications is climbing aboard the Watch on Facebook train with three new shows.

Celebrity Animal Encounters from Animal Planet will be the first to debut on the social network’s recently introduced video platform next week.

The five-episode series, produced by Asylum Entertainment, will feature celebrities including Kristen Bell, Justin Hartley, Fabio and Danny Trejo sharing their experiences with “loveable, crazy, shocking and outright hilarious animals.”

Celebrity Animal Encounters will debut on Facebook’s Watch next week.

Investigation Discovery will chime in this fall with Sill a Mystery, in which a single crime will be reinvestigated via interviews with law enforcement, family members and private investigators, with news footage and social media content incorporated.

Still a Mystery will also run five episodes.

Also this fall, TLC will debut a five-episode spinoff of its Say Yes to the Dress franchise, in which brides will be surprised at designer trunk shows and “treated to the ultimate bridal experience.”

Discovery Communications chief commercial officer Paul Guyardo said in a release announcing the new Watch on Facebook shows, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Facebook because the new Watch platform shares our commitment to engage passionate fans and create communities through video. This is also another example of our commitment to delivering compelling, original content to superfans across all platforms.”
