Discovery Communications Expands Parental Leave Policy

The new policy applies to new, adoptive, foster parents and caregivers.

Discovery Communications announced today changes to its parental leave policy, with an expansive understanding of “parental.” Under its new policy, Discovery is providing 12 weeks of full paid leave that applies to to paternity leave, maternity leave, domestic partners and adoptive and foster parents. Leave can either be consecutive or spread out over the course of a year.

The 12-week policy extends not only to new or growing families, but to caregivers responsible for an ailing family member.
