Did Blankley Replace Deaver?

There’s been some speculation that outgoing Washington Times Editorial Page Editor Tony Blankley was hired by Edelman to replace longtime Edelman employee Michael Deaver, who passed away in August of this year.

Not so, FishbowlDC hears. Blankley began talking with Deaver about joining Edelman well over a year ago and the two hoped to work together.

Blankley tells FishbowlDC: “I had been looking forward to working side by side with Mike. That–not replacing Mike, may he rest in peace–was the context in which the decision was made.”
