Despite Its Dark Side, the Internet Still Gives the White House’s CTO Hope

Megan Smith on the Web’s power to solve problems

The White House's chief technology officer, Megan Smith (who technically works for the Office of Science and Technology Policy), may be a seasoned digital executive, but she certainly hasn't lost her faith in the positive aspects of the Internet.

Smith was a guest speaker at the Time Inc./Intel "Women Who Spark" event at the Venetian in Las Vegas during CES this week, and she took a minute to speak with Adweek. She cites hackathons to help cities solve traffic-flow issues as the perfect example of how the Web remains a force for good.
