Dell Looking Glass 7-inch Tablet to Use Ancient Android OS 2.1 At Release?

Dell’s Android powered Streak “phablet” (phone tablet) with its odd sized 5-inch display (too big for a phone and too small for a tablet) generated a lot pre-availability buzz and then promptly dropped off the gadget map after it became available. PCMag and HotHardware provides details for what may be Dell’s actual tablet (vs. phablet) product: Looking Glass.

The specs?

– 7-inch display
– 3G wireless data compatible with both AT&T & T-Mobile USA frequencies
– 802.11n WiFi

– Bluetooth 2.1
– Nvidia Tegra 2 processor

The two most interesting aspects are the compatibility with 3G offered by both AT&T & T-Mobile along with the powerful Tegra 2 processor. The two big questions are:

1. What will Looking Glass cost?
2. Will Dell choose to use an ancient version of Android OS again? HotHardware reports Looking Glass will run Android OS 2.1 which is two generations behind the current 2.3 (Gingerbread) release.
