David Meeks Named AP Assistant Managing Editor

Investigative and sports editor David Meeks has been named an assistant managing editor for the Associated Press.

Meeks will help oversee the AP News Center in New York with the goal of delivering competitive, breaking coverage across multiple platforms.

Meeks was formerly an assistant sports editor for the AP’s East region and helped oversee the AP’s social networking efforts around the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He has also covered the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans while working as a sports editor for the Times-Picayune. Meeks’ reporting team’s coverage of the disaster helped earn them Pulitzer Prizes.
