David Granger Out at Esquire

A 19-year stint comes to a close.

This is kind of crazy — David Granger is out as editor in chief of Esquire. Granger had been editor of the magazine since 1997.

Town + Country editor Jay Fielden will succeed Granger as editor of Esquire. He’ll also serve as editorial director of T+C. Fielden had served as editor of T+C since 2011.

For his part, Granger issued a gracious statement about his time at Esquire.

“The last 19 years have been the best time ever to be a creative professional. The explosion of new forms of expression has been breathtaking. Turns out that a print magazine has been the perfect hub from which to experiment with just about all of them. I’m in awe of my staff and writers for their genius and their commitment to Esquire and I can’t wait to see what new opportunities await me.”
