David Callaway Named New Editor-in-Chief of ‘USA TODAY’

David Callaway, editor-in-chief of MarketWatch, is the new editor-in-chief of USA TODAY. He’ll begin his new post later in July.

According to the press release on the newspaper’s site, Larry Kramer, USA TODAY president and publisher indicated:

“David is a distinguished journalist with a deep understanding of digital news and we are thrilled to have him join the USA TODAY team. He has successfully run a newsroom that produced regular television, radio, digital and mobile news products. Here, he will also lead a multi-platform newsroom that will provide our readers with the outstanding content they have come to expect from us.”

Callaway was at the helm of MarketWatch since 2003; prior to that, he was the executive editor and managing editor in 1999. Before joining MarketWatch, he was a securities industry reporter at Bloomberg.

In the press release, Callaway indicated, “I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the USA TODAY team, and to rejoin Larry, as we begin a new era in digital journalism at one of the most well known news brands in the country.”
