‘Dancing’ and ‘Idol’ Stand Atop the Weekly New York Ratings

For the second week, Dancing With The Stars has found a home between American Idol at the top of the weekly prime time ratings.

Last week’s two-hour performance episode of Idol took the top spot in New York with an estimated 1.8 million viewers watching on WNYW/Fox 5. The show had a 9.2 rating, according to the Nielsen Company. The elimination show, which sent two singers packing, tied for number two with 1.6 million and a 8.3 rating.

Joining Idol in the second slot was Dancing for its performance show Monday night on WABC. The results show took hold of number four (1.4 million/7.1). Dancing also had an eighth-place finish for a separate hour on Tuesday night (979,000/4.9).

WCBS made its first appearance in the Top 10 with its “Old Reliable”– 60 Minutes. The newsmagazine show was fifth (1 million/5.4).

Nickelodeon had a huge week, cracking the Top 15–twice. Victorious was 11th (868,000/4.3), while the Kids Choice Awards tied for 12th (826,000/4.1).

WNBC had to wait until number 18 for their first showing with Celebrity Apprentice (747,000/3.7).

Fox 5 News at Ten landed at 25th thanks, in large part, to the Idol lead-in on Wednesday night (604,000/3.0).
