Daily News Executive Editor Expands Duties
In a true sign of the times for the newspaper industry, Daily News executive editor Carolina Garcia has expanded her management duties to include the Daily Breeze and the Press-Telegram.
Publisher Jack Klunder, who oversees the same three MediaNews publications, made the announcement earlier in the week.
Garcia replaces Daily Breeze editor Toni Sciacqua, who is now the digital managing editor for the metro group of MediaNews’ Los Angeles Newspaper Group. Press-Telegram editor and general manager Sue Schmitt decided to leave the company.
“I’m really looking forward to getting an opportunity to know the community, the newspaper and the staff,” Garcia told Daily Breeze reporter Larry Altman.
