Cutting Up North As Montreal Gazette Goes Web Only On Sundays

News from our neighbors to the north: the Montreal Gazette, which entered new ownership yesterday after a protracted bankruptcy, is no longer going to publish a print Sunday edition, the paper said.

“In its 22-year existence, the Sunday Gazette has struggled to find significant advertising support to cover the costs of printing and distribution,” wrote publisher & editor-in chief Alan Allnutt. The Saturday paper will become, then, the “Weekend Gazette” and do the lifting for two.

No jobs appear to have been affected as a result of this decision.
