Love was in the air among Facebook and Instagram users in February, as Valentine’s Day was the hottest of Facebook IQ’s Hot Topics for the month.

Black History Month was a popular topic of discussion on both social networks, while Facebook users also mentioned Friendship Day, and Super Bowl LII was another popular holiday or event on Instagram.

Speaking of sports, Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles heated up both social networks, while Facebook users also discussed the Eagles and LeBron James, and Instagram users chatted about Dwayne Wade and Brian Dawkins.

Delta Air Lines, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Goldman Sachs were Hot Topics in the brands category on Facebook last month, while Instagram users discussed video games Shadow of the Colossus, Bayonetta and Firefall.

Justin Timberlake was a Hot Topic in the entertainment category across both social networks, while Facebook users also talked about Michael Jackson and Fred Rogers, while Instagram users discussed Blac Chyna and Romeo Santos.

Finally, in the people category, Elon Musk trended across both Facebook and Instagram, while Facebook users also talked up Will Smith and Instagrammers discussed Rosa Parks, Ryan Coogler and Evelyne Brochu.

Facebook IQ measured subjects that drove disproportionately high volumes of discussion on both social platforms, marking the latest in a Facebook-Adweek Hot Topics monthly series that began in 2015.
