July 1994: Kassan joins Western International Media as COO.
January 1996: IPG elevates Kassan to president and COO and enters into an employment agreement with him which runs through Jan. 10, 2000.
October 1998: IPG merges Western and Initiative Media Worldwide to form Western Initiative Media Worldwide.
Jan. 6, 1999: IPG general counsel Nick Camera allegedly writes that Kassan’s performance is “superlative.”
Feb. 26: Kassan and Western negotiate new contract for Kassan, to go into effect Jan. 1, 2000.
July 1: Lotito named COO, taking that title from Kassan who remains president.
Week of July 12: Western tells its staff that Kassan is on 30 days’ leave.
July 14: Western allegedly gives Kassan 30 days to “cure” breaches of his contract.
July 30: Western issues statement that “Kassan’s leave has no connection whatsoever to his or the company’s activities on behalf of its clients.”
