<em>CQ</em> Switches Up Its Legislative Tracking Team

CQ Executive Editor John Dineen has announced the promotion of two and the addition of three reporters to the Legislative Tracking Team. But more interesting than that news is that the fact that one of those scribes spent five summers climbing inside a big fuzzy animal costume playing characters like Tigger at Disney World. That would be Jason Barrett. Also noteworthy is Alexander Hart, who during his study abroad at the London School of Economics, became so lonely for U.S. politics that he began a Congress blog by relentlessly watching C-SPAN. See the internal memo... Folks - As we continue to settle in to our new building, I'm pleased to share some changes to our CQ Legislative Tracking team. Christina Parisi is now our deputy editor for CQ Schedules, where she runs the non-congressional event listings, supervises our schedules researchers and helps Bob Healy publish our comprehensive CQ Daybook. Christina joined CQ in 2008 from the American Educational Research Association as a documents researcher and has led our documents product with Clayton Hanson since CQRC integration in 2009. She is one of the true utility players on Pat Joy’s Legislative Information team, where she previously managed CQ Top Docs. Christina has been critical in getting whatever product she's working on -- the Congressional Record, CQ Transcripts, CQ Testimony, BNN Frontrunner, you name it -- published in a timely and accurate manner. Christina sits next to Jackie Linnane in the southeast corner of the seventh floor near the CQ Legislative Action and Roll Call editors. Scott Campbell has joined our CQ Hot Docs team as a full-time researcher. Scott, who had been freelancing for us since February, has impressed the team with his work ethic and attention to detail. He graduated from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire with a classics degree, and in addition to his leadership role in student government he also managed a state House campaign and served as a runner for ABC News during the 2008 presidential debates. He also sits in the Legislative Information area of the seventh floor next to Clayton Hanson. Karin Fuog has joined us as a legislative analyst, working for our Legislative Action team primarily on CQ House Action Reports. Karin comes to us following eight years as a senior policy analyst at Nelnet, where she monitored legislation and regulations and analyzed potential impacts. Karin has an undergraduate degree in honors English and an M.A. in medieval English literature from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and she received her Ph.D. in medieval English literature from the University of Michigan before spending five years teaching at two colleges in Connecticut. She sits next to Christina Parisi. Alexander Hart is our newest Legislative Action reporter. Alex spent the past year as a reporter-researcher at The New Republic, covering Congress and domestic policy and doing some fact-checking. He received his undergraduate degree in international economics from Georgetown and, during his year abroad at the London School of Economics, he missed Congress enough that he started a blog called Inside Congress Today, which covered congressional hearings and other activity via C-SPAN. Alex also completed internships with the Tribune’s DC bureau, the Alexandria Times and ABC News Nightline. He sits near Niels Lesniewski and Frances Symes. Jason Barrett joined BillTrack from the International Center for Alcohol Policies, where he monitored legislation as a research assistant. Jason is finishing up his master’s degree in legislative affairs from George Washington University, and he has worked as a research and program assistant at the Justice at Stake Campaign and in both Florida and Washington offices of Sen. Bill Nelson. He also interned in Nelson’s D.C. office while completing his undergraduate studies at Elon University in North Carolina and spent five summers playing characters, including Tigger, at Disney World.
