Not long after Facebook launched a feature that many compared to Pinterest, the site started testing something that's more native to LinkedIn — a profile completion meter. The social network has also been asking users for their current cities.

Not long after Facebook launched a feature that many compared to Pinterest, the site started testing something that’s more native to LinkedIn — a profile completion meter. The social network has also been asking users for their current cities.

This test was noticed by sister site Inside Facebook, which posted a screenshot of the profile completion meter. The more information someone fills out — birthday, gender, education, hometown, work history, etc. — the higher the percentage:

Naturally, Facebook is trying to get users to fill out more profile information in an effort for better advertising targeting.
