Circ Report: Jan. 25, 2010

At a time when many Americans are skipping expensive trips, travel titles’ first-half newsstand sales declined more drastically than those of magazines overall, which were off 12 percent.

Those that had the biggest drop were Islands and Travel + Leisure, which each lost more than 25 percent of their newsstand sales. Gains in subscriptions—by far the biggest part of the category’s circulation—helped offset those shortfalls, though.

The biggest users of verified as a percentage of total circ were Nat Geo Traveler, at 13.3 percent, and Budget Travel, 9.5 percent.
