Based on Nielsen fast program ratings, Chuck Todd’s debut as moderator of “Meet the Press” yesterday was the top Sunday public affairs program.
Final numbers will be released Thursday morning, but early numbers show that “Meet the Press,” which aired an exclusive sit down with President Barack Obama, averaged 2.977 million total viewers. “MTP” also won the coveted A25-54 demo with 804,000 viewers.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Chuck’s first show and are so appreciative of the viewers that turned to ‘Meet the Press’ this Sunday,” said an NBC spokesperson. “At the same time, we know that one week does not equal a trend and expanding our regular audience will take a slow build week to week.”
NBC’s Sunday morning win was the first time the program was number one in total or demo viewers since February 2014.
