The $435 million Newseum, slated to open in the District this October, will receive $6 million from Cox Enterprises and the James M. Cox Foundation to sponsor an exhibit gallery at the museum celebrating the First Amendment.
The gallery will bear the Atlanta-based company’s name in recognition of the gift, which will be paid to the museum over the next two years. The 1,700-square-foot gallery will feature films, artifacts and displays that will convey the history and the modern-day relevance of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment.
