Center for Public Integrity Beefs Up Politics Team

The Center for Public Integrity has made a new hire on its federal politics team. It’s Julie Patel, formerly of WAMU-FM 88.5, San Jose Mercury News and South Florida’s Sun Sentinel.

Her beat: According to a release on CPI’s website, Patel’s work will focus heavily on investigating political power brokers and how money affects elections and government, particularly in light of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2010 ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.

A claim to fame: As an AmeriCorps volunteer, she received a hug from former President Bill Clinton.
