CBS Toasts Retiring Hill Producer on 35 Years

After nearly 35 years with CBS News, the Washington bureau toasted Hill producer Evelyn Thomas on her retirement in the newsroom this afternoon.

Her closest colleagues- Congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes and producers John Nolen and Jill Jackson- couldn’t leave their posts for the celebrations, but called in to offer their congratulations. “For some reason, it’s pretty busy up here,” Cordes joked.

Such a well-liked producer, bureau chief Chris Isham said she could now start her campaign for Congress, and chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer shared memories of covering the infamous Ken Starr report with Thomas.

Cheers!
