CBS News Writers Strike Looms

As the WGA strike pickets into its second week, a CBS News writers strike looms. On Thursday there will be a strike authorization vote for about 500 unionized news writers who have been working under an contract that expired over two years ago. CBS said in a statement, ”CBS News is prepared for the possibility of a writers strike. We will continue to produce quality news programming for our viewers.”

The WGA East news writers — who work in New York, Los Angeles, Washington and Chicago — are expected to authorize the strike.
