Can Custom Facebook Videos Drive Auto Sales?

Why go car shopping and drive all over the place when you can see detailed, customized videos of vehicles that dealers currently have in stock? That’s the thinking behind Socialink, a new Facebook application from video marketing outfit Liquidus, designed for use by dealers.

The customized videos are what sets Socialink apart. Other Facebook apps designed for car dealers — such as those from Autofusion, Liquid Motors, Goso, and Dealerfire — offer many of the same features as Socialink, minus the video.

Dealers who add the Socialink apps to their Facebook pages can create interactive videos of their inventory, with features including:

  • Custom voice-over narration and graphic overlays;
  • Complete details on each vehicle;
  • Carfax reports;
  • Lead-generation tools;
  • Dealership maps; and
  • Links to related vehicles.

Dealers also have access to analytics to measure and track consumer interaction.

And Liquidus plans to release an updated version soon with support for the iPad and iPhone, including a polling application to help dealers collect feedback.

Meanwhile, the currently available app lets potential buyers search vehicles by make, price, year, or mileage; the “Contact Dealer” form allows shoppers to immediately arrange for test drives.

Liquidus Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer Todd Holmes said in a press release:

Everyone knows that Facebook is the social media powerhouse, delivering a massive audience of consumers that no other media can touch. Socialink lets car dealers tap into this market by extending the vehicle video-browsing experience that has helped make dealership websites so popular in recent years. Not only does Socialink echo this experience, it also capitalizes on the social media phenomenon by enabling users to share their vehicle likes with friends.

Readers, would customized, detailed videos of available automobiles help shape your shopping and purchasing experience?
